Agents

Voice, guidelines, knowledge and the call flow.

An agent is the AI that answers your line. It has four parts, each with its own editor.

Voice#

Audition candidate voices speaking your agent’s own greeting — not a canned sample — so you hear your opening line exactly as a caller will.

Guidelines#

Tone, things it must never say, and disclaimers it must say verbatim when relevant. These apply across every flow.

Knowledge base#

What your AI knows about your business: services, FAQs, hours. This is what the website scan fills in, and what you correct.

Call flow#

The conversation, drawn as it runs — what happens step by step, and what follows a call. It has a full-screen editor of its own.

Worth knowingNothing auto-saves. Your edits stay in the browser until you press Save.

What Save does#

Saving writes your changes and pushes the agent to the voice engine in the same action. That is true of a draft as well as a live agent, which is what makes Test your agent play back the version you just edited rather than the one from your first ever click.

Pushing a draft cannot reach a caller: a phone number is attached only when an agent is live. So a draft gets an engine of its own that nobody can ring except you, in your own browser.

NoteIf the save succeeds but the push does not, the screen says so in words rather than showing a green tick over a phone line that did not change. Your work is still saved.

Draft, live and paused#

StatusWhat it means
DraftYours to test in the browser. No number is attached and no caller can reach it.
LivePushed to the voice engine and answering the number attached to it.
PausedTaken off the air. Its number is routed nowhere until you make it live again.
ArchivedOff the air and out of the way. Frees the agent slot your plan counts.

Press Go live on the agent. It is pushed to the voice engine before the status changes, so an agent never reads live in the console without an engine behind it — if the push is refused, the status stays where it was and you are told why.

Worth knowingPausing really does take the number off the air, and a caller then hears their carrier say the number is not in service. That is the correct behaviour for "not picking up", but it is not a voicemail — if you want callers to hear something, leave the agent live and change what it says instead.

Pausing is never blocked by the voice engine being unreachable: your agent goes off the air in the console immediately, and if the carrier has not let go of the number yet, the screen names the numbers still answering.

How many you can have#

Your plan includes as many agents as it includes numbers — 1, 3 or 5 — because a number routes to exactly one agent. A free account keeps one, so you can always build and test.
